Water Tank Update #4

Water Tank Update

 Update #4 , May 25, 2023 for CCWD customers.

Fellow Canebrakers. Update on the new 10,000 gallon water tank.

At 7:00am Saturday May 13th, volunteers met at the Water Block Tank location to lower our new 10,000 gallon water tank to install a four inch coupling for the overflow pipe as required by the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health.

After the CCWD Water Board  Meeting, volunteers returned to complete the task. The temperature hovered around 100 degrees.

Water Manager, Dean Kuns drilled a hole through the tank, then went inside to push through the coupling to be tightened from the outside. Thanks to Bill Dimmock for bringing an industrial blower and generator to keep Dean comfortable as posable while  inside. Dean's comment, after exiting,

"I am not going back in there again."

Volunteers then raised the tank back into position, using straps, jeep winch, come along winch, and physical and verbal assistance.

On Sunday, May 14th, our Certified D2 Operator, Ms. Kim Chavez, examined our procedure to install pipe connections from the tank  to the main line and agreed with the disinfection process. Ms. Chavez also noted we followed all procedures as required and her report will be forwarded to the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health.

Due to heat conditions it was agreed to postpone the connection to the main line until weather conditions are suitable and safe; perhaps late September, into October.

High 5's and attaboys around.

A thank you to all who brought your expertise and labor to assist with this vital addition for our community.
