You forgot to shut off your hose and more than 500 gallons were used.
We have had two incidents this summer where residents left hoses on. When that happens, volunteers start walking the lines looking for leaks. This effort costs time, money and resources.
We have automation that checks for new leaks daily. If you water outdoors between midnight to 5 am and do not inform us, we think there is a new leak. Normal indoor household usage during those hours like flushing a toilet does not need to be reported.
