The Canebrake County Water District (CCWD) is selling our Case Backhoe 580K, which will no longer be put in use for our District.

After having two qualified ASE heavy equipment mechanics diagnose the known issues with the Case Backhoe, the Board decided to sell the unit due to safety concerns, the high cost of repairs and CA State smog requirements. Therefore, the buyer will knowingly purchase the vehicle, (as is) and assume all expenses thereafter.

The Board agreed to provide the Canebrake community with the opportunity to bid on the backhoe. Extensive research completed by Board Director, Daryl Holmes, and recommendations by contacts who spoke with Mr. Holmes, defined a price minimum of $7,000.00.

On November 20th, 2023, as agreed upon by the Canebrake County Water District Board of Directors, a Cat 239D Compact Tract Loader was purchased from HAWTHORNE/ CAT Rental in Rancho Bernardo CA. The unit will be delivered on November, Wednesday 29th, or Thursday 30th,2023 (Please review November 11th, 2023, CCWD meeting minutes for more detail.).

Upon delivery, our Case Backhoe 580K will be evaluated by the HAWTHORNE/ CAT representative and an offer may be presented, as they have shown an interest in purchasing. Should their offer be more than any Canebrake Resident, a counteroffer will be exercised to those wishing to participate. The highest offer will be accepted. For those interested., contact:
