Automation, Teamwork and Volunteers Found and Repaired a Leak

Canebrakers!

Recently the first leak of 2025 was repaired. We would like to share with you how it was done.

Last year our previous board researched, designed, and built our first fully Automated System for the water district. The technology runs 24/7, monitoring the tank levels, adjusting the pump schedule, and identifying potential leaks. The system spotted a potential leak. Community patrons were notified, and within a few hours two observant patrons spotted the leak. The leak was an aged meter gasket.

Special thanks to

  • Ron Akey and Karyn Barnett for spotting the leak.
  • Daryl Holmes and Roberto Munoc for making the repair.
  • Marsha Campbell for monitoring the pipeline.
  • Gunnar for designing the automation system.
  • Community volunteers for assisting in the installation of the automation.

The synergy between the community and the water district is vital.

Let's continue to be united and blossom.

Below is the automation showing the tank level for a 24 hour period. The desired water level of the tank is set to 8 feet. Even with a leak and varying usage, the system adapts and holds a steady 8 feet throughout the day to provide water to the community.

Automation working 24/7 to provide water to the community.

Sincerely,

Canebrake County Water District
