2024 Mooney Well Fluoride Sampling Results

Canebrake County Water District Customers.
Please find attached the results from the annual fluoride sampling via the Annual Notification of Flouride Quality Failure Notice. The sample results indicate that we are experiencing a higher level than usual of fluoride from our well water at this time (8.1 mg/liter). Since the level is extremely high, we will retest the Mooney well to ensure the sample is valid and test the Peterson well.
Research has shown fluoride can be removed using proper filtration methods which can be purchased for household use. The best and most preferred is Reverse Osmosis. Activated Alumina known as aluminum oxide can be used in water filtration pitchers, but may not be as effective. If you are considering a filtering system, further research on you part should help you make the best decision for your needs.
Know that Boiling water DOES NOT remove fluoride from water.
We will be discussing this issue at the CCWD Board Meeting on January 13th, 2023. Join us if you can.
